Details of the precision control for the forming machine of guardrail posts

In the highway guardrail system, the guardrail panels and columns are in a mutually supporting relationship. The precision of the guardrail column forming machine directly determines the overall installation effect and impact resistance performance.
1. Straightness control
The straightness of the guardrail columns is usually required to be ≤ 0.5mm/m. The forming machine is designed with a full closed-loop numerical control system and combines with an automatic straightening device to ensure that each column does not deviate during high-speed forming.
During on-site debugging, engineers will use a laser rangefinder to inspect the columns and avoid the occurrence of "snake-like lines" in the later construction.
2. Accuracy of punching positions
The connection holes on the columns need to be precisely aligned with the guardrail panels. The error should be controlled within ±0.5mm, which is an important prerequisite for ensuring rapid installation.
The equipment adopts the method of "in-mold punching + servo feeding" to ensure that the hole spacing and hole diameter are consistent, and there is no need for later manual expansion and repair.
3. Surface protection
During high-speed punching, the edges of the sheet material are prone to produce burrs. Through roller coating and cooling lubrication systems, not only is the mold wear reduced, but also the burrs do not scratch the galvanized layer, ensuring the long-term corrosion resistance of the columns.
