Chassis crossbeam forming machine - Process details for fatigue resistance
June 07,2025

The chassis crossbeam is an important component that bears loads and impacts over a long period for automobiles. What seems like an ordinary "long condition" actually has extremely high requirements for fatigue life.
The issue that customers are most likely to overlook:
The design of the pass is unreasonable, with a too small bending radius, which will cause dark cracks to form within the material fibers;
The surface treatment of the roller wheel is uneven, leading to local stress concentration;
After forming, if the stress release process is not carried out, the crossbeam is more likely to develop cracks during use.
Solution:
The forming machine should be equipped with an online stress detection system or a post-processing straightening system to prevent dark cracks from entering the finished product;
The key rollers must undergo surface hardening and polishing treatment to reduce the generation of metal microcracks.
In the process design, transitional radii should be adopted in the bending area instead of "pressing straight to a right angle".
These details often determine whether the crossbeam can remain stable over a ten-year usage period, rather than developing cracks near the weld points after a few years.
