The relationship between the uniformity of panel corner shapes and equipment configuration
January 20,2025

During the selection process of cold bending forming equipment, customers often encounter a problem: Can one piece of equipment be used to produce multiple plate shapes? One of the key points is whether the round corners of the plate shapes are uniform.

1.When the rounded corners are uniform:
If the different-sized panel types only vary in thickness, while the cross-sectional shape and the radius of the rounded corners remain the same, then usually the same set of roller systems can be used to achieve compatibility for production.
👉 In this case, one piece of equipment can meet the production requirements for various thicknesses, and only the parameter and mold gap adjustments are needed for adaptation.

2. When the round corners are not uniform
If the radius of the round corners of the plate shape varies significantly, even if the overall outline is similar, separate roller design is often necessary.
Too small round corners → The plate is prone to cracks or stress concentration during the forming process;
Too large round corners → The size deviation of the plate shape is large, and the lap effect is poor.
In this case, it is usually necessary to configure two or three pieces of equipment, corresponding to different round corner plate shapes. Otherwise, attempting to be compatible forcibly will not only affect the product accuracy, but also lead to complex equipment adjustment and reduced efficiency.

3. Customer Reminders
During the initial design phase, if the round corner sizes can be uniformly standardized, it can reduce equipment investment and enhance compatibility;
If the project requires diverse board types and the differences in round corners are significant, then it is necessary to plan multiple devices in advance to avoid rework or production halt in the later stage;
When selecting equipment, it is necessary to combine actual needs and confirm with the manufacturer whether it is possible to achieve compatibility for some differences through modular mold design.
